The silver is deposited on the stainless steel in our workshops, sparing the knife blades to preserve their cutting characteristics. The hand of man is involved more than 10 times, each of these manual operations guaranteeing, step after step, an exceptional product.
Our collections of silver-plated cutlery are distinguished by their hallmark, which guarantees the quality of the precious metal and the skill of the master silversmith. The hallmark indicates:
-The quality of the silver plating, defined by the thickness of the silver deposit used to make the cutlery series
-The goldsmith: the leopards, emblems of Normandy, stand above the manufacturer's initials "GD" for "Guy Degrenne".
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
STANDARDS
DEGRENNE silverware meets the highest standards guaranteed by the square "I" quality hallmark affixed to all pieces. The standard requires an average thickness of 33 microns on the main pieces, i.e. approximately 84g of silver for 12 table forks and 12 table spoons.
SUPPORT CHARACTERISTICS
DEGRENNE silver-plated cutlery is made from the highest quality stainless steel. All our knife blades are made from special cutlery steel. These blades are not silvered to preserve their cutting quality.
USE AND PRECAUTIONS
DEGRENNE silverware is made to be used every day: daily use of silver-plated cutlery is the best guarantee against oxidation. The cutlery is particularly well preserved in our cases, which slow down the colouring process by protecting it from the air. Nevertheless, if any discolouration appears, it can be treated with the chamois supplied with the case. DEGRENNE silverware does not fear being put in the washing machine or subjected to everyday treatments. However, a few precautions should be taken:
• Prefer powders to any other detergent
• Wash knives immediately after use
• Make sure all items are completely dry
• Remove items from the dishwasher as soon as the wash cycle is complete and store them away from air and moisture.
• Avoid mixing them with other non-silver cutlery when washing.
